Graffiti art
A person interested in graffiti art should understand that this is
truly an art form and not merely something that is spray painted on
buildings, train cars, bridges and other edifices. Few know that graffiti
as an art form has been around for thousands of years, but the fact
is that this is an art that has gotten a bad reputation thanks to the
misuse of it in recent decades.
Some of the things a person should do when studying graffiti art are:
• Differentiate – Yes there is a difference between graffiti
and vandalism. If another person’s belongings are being damaged,
it is vandalism. However many people are able to create graffiti art
on their own items.
• Read up – Because graffiti art has been around for years
and years, there is quite a bit of information available about this
unique art form. A person who reads about this type of art will likely
learn about all three types of Graffiti: tag, throw-up and piece.
• Search images on the Web – A person who wants to get a
good idea of how graffiti art has evolved over the years may want to
do an image search on the Web. This image search should bring up results
recovered from thousands of years ago as well as results from recent
days.
• Talk to Graffiti artists – There are many online message
boards and blogs that graffiti artists frequently contribute to. Visit
these boards and blogs and ask questions or advice about how this art
form is perceived by those who do it and why they enjoy doing it.
Doing all of these things can help a person who is interested in graffiti
to get a better understanding of what this kind of art truly entails.
